Setting Goals can be hard for many people. It seems like an easy task if you just think about it. But many people will forget very important elements of goal setting and decide to give up when things get hard. I’ll be covering this in depth in the Manage Mom & Mompreneur Life With Ease Masterclass. But the thing about goal setting that throws many people off is the journey that they take to reach their goal. It can be a terrifying journey if you aren’t properly prepared. Along the journey there are hurdles, set backs, obstacles, road bumps, and so much more that you must dredge through to make it to then end result. When situations that are unpleasant arise many people just give up because things get hard. But goal setting for success doesn’t have to be difficult and I want to show you why.

Why Goal Setting For Success Can Fail

There are a few simple steps that make goal setting for success stick and WORK. Let me give e a quick example of how planning for your goals is the key to your success. f you’ve ever been on a plane before you know that you might have to go off the planned course in order to reach your destination. A pilot may come across turbulence, storms, snow, rain, lightening, etc that may make him adjust his course. Somehow, at the end of the flight, you have reached your destination. This is exactly how goal setting for success happens.

Truly, you can sit down and set goals for yourself that you want to achieve. Then you dive in and start working towards those goals. Along the road you hit a road block and need to adjust your course. When you’re a mompreneur there is another element to goal setting for success that you need to keep in mind; time management. Your ability, or inability, to manage time and tasks will determine how you handle set backs that pop up. It’s rarely the goal setting itself that trips people up. Rather it’s the inability to adjust the path to success as you go along that causes people to give up along their journey.

Steps For Goal Setting For Success

Without fail here are steps 5 steps that you can take to achieve any goal you set.

1. Figure out what you want to achieve
2. Break down how you will reach the goals-step by step
3. WRITE DOWN YOUR GOAL
4. Keep at it
5. Every day work towards your goals​

1. Figure out what you want to achieve

This might seem self explanatory. Simply ask yourself what you want to achieve. I always suggest my clients start with a 90 day goal. You can achieve anything in a 90 day period. 2. Break down how you will reach the goals

Now that you know what you want to achieve its time to outline how you will get there. It’s one thing to say you want to reach a goal. But if you only have a general idea of where the end will take you you will have no way to hold yourself accountable each day. You will need to break down your goals step by step. Just like pilot needs to plan how he/she will get you from point A to point B. You will need to know how you will reach your goals. Some find it easier to start from the end and work their way backwards.

3. WRITE IT DOWN

I can’t stress this point enough, which is why it’s in all caps. You MUST write down your commitments in order to truly achieve them. By writing down your Goal Setting For Success plans you are signaling to your brain that you are serious. You are saying to your brain that you are invested in your project. I don’t use the word investment lightly, as humans when we invest in something we don’t like to lose our investment. So we do anything to keep from losing our investment; whether it’s time/money/energy/etc. WRITE IT DOWN. 4. Keep at it

So, you have figured out what you want to achieve, you have a road map to get you to your goal, you’ve written it down now it’s time to work towards those goals! Yes I know this sounds easy but this is another step where many tend to fail. Every day you must remind yourself that you CAN achieve your goals. The power of positive thinking can do wonders for your end result. Create ways to keep yourself motivated and on track. Establishing an environment for success will help keep your momentum going.

  • Make motivational notes
  • Create a dream board/white board of things you want to do once you’ve met your goal
  • Surround yourself with positive and motivating people
  • Change your desktop background to something relating to your goal
  • Leave Yourself Notes In Your Planner
  • Use special sticky notes to help stay on track
  • In a special notebook or on a white board write your BIG goal so that you can see it daily

5. Every day work towards your goals

Last step, and the easiest part of all five steps. If you want to reach your goals you must work on your goals EVERY SINGLE DAY! I’m not saying you have to spend 8 hours every day getting stuff accomplished. Sometimes you only have 10 minutes because you’re a busy ass momma. But every single day accomplish something that will lead you to your end goal. The more you accomplish the closer to your end goal you will get.

In fact this is called using The Compound Effect to your benefit! If you haven’t read The Compound Effect you NEED to. Literally if you read nothing else to get your business started, your life goals going, or your personal secret goals you MUST read the compound effect Truly, creating goals is super simple but sticking to them and actually reaching the end goal is quite a bit more difficult. If you don’t have the right tools and mindset to follow through you’ll find your end goals never come.
